Unencumbered by established pop songwriting rules, John wrote by feel. But when you question him as to what it is, he doesn't know.
"He always comes across with sort of different timing things, for example ' All You Need Is Love,' which just sort of skips beats out and changes from three-four to four-four, all in and out of each other. "John has an amazing thing with his timing," George Harrison stated in 1969.
